How to get Facebook’s new ‘Pride reaction’ button

Facebook has launched a new rainbow flag reaction emoji to celebrate the hundreds of LGBTQ Pride events taking place over the world this month.

Users are now able to react to posts with a rainbow flag alongside the Like, Heart, Haha, Wow, Sad & Angry emojis. The new reaction will be available for the entirety of June and you can get it on your Facebook profile in three simple steps…

  1. Head to your Facebook account if you aren’t already
  2. Like the page
  3. Refresh your page and now you should be able to start reacting to posts with the rainbow flag emoji

Why a rainbow flag? The flag is a symbol for Pride which is the positive stance against discrimination and violence towards Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer people. Not only that but the symbol has even more meaning this year following the death of its creator Gilbert Maker in March.

On the launch of the new reaction emoji, Facebook said: “We believe in building a platform that supports all communities. So we’re celebrating love and diversity this Pride by giving you a special reaction.”
